Both are voucher types in Retail Express with unique codes and balances. Credit notes are recommended for account customers and appear on account payment reports. Gift vouchers suit general gifting and store credit.

Yes. In Retail Express, you can redeem any amount up to the available balance across multiple sales until the balance is used. You can also combine the voucher with other payment methods (like cash or card) for the remainder of the transaction.

Yes. Retail Express voucher credit can be redeemed from any store in your network by any person presenting a valid code.

Yes, with the Integrated Gift Vouchers add-on enabled. Gift vouchers sync to Shopify Gift Cards so customers purchase and redeem online or at POS on the same code and balance. Credit notes and vouchers with codes outside 8-20 characters are not synchronised to Shopify.

Validity is set globally in Voucher Settings. Australian gift vouchers must have at least a three-year expiry from 1 November 2019 unless an ACCC exception applies. Expired vouchers are cancelled and cannot be reactivated.

Yes. You can override the auto-generated code when creating a voucher in Retail Express and scan or enter your pre-printed physical card code instead.

Yes. You can enter outstanding vouchers and credit notes into Retail Express POS before go-live, retaining original codes from your previous system so customers can redeem without disruption.
