Yes, for small grocery, convenience and specialty food retailers that sell barcode-based products with inventory tracking. You can scan items at the till, manage stock levels, and run stocktakes. It is not a weigh-scale or deli-label system, check hardware requirements for supported peripherals.

Retail Express is designed for product retail, not table-service hospitality. A cafe that primarily sells seated meals, kitchen dockets and course firing is better served by a dedicated hospitality POS vendor, see cafe POS: when Retail Express fits. If you run a small retail shopfront (packaged goods, merch, pantry items) with barcode inventory, Retail Express may fit, book a demo to confirm your workflow.

Generally no for full-service restaurants, Retail Express does not provide table plans, kitchen display or hospitality course management. It is built for retailers selling products at a till. For the hospitality vs retail breakdown in a venue, see restaurant POS: when Retail Express fits. For hybrid venues, speak with our team if retail product sales (not kitchen service) are your main need.

At minimum, a Windows 10/11 PC or iPad with a modern browser. For receipt printing and integrated EFTPOS, use a Windows PC with the Hardware Utility, an Epson-compatible receipt printer, and optional USB barcode scanner. Source compatible kit from our preferred partner via the POS hardware guide. Retail Express does not sell POS machines directly.

Stay on Retail Express. Add stores, registers, Shopify, click & collect and multi-store inventory without changing platform. See multi-store & omnichannel retail.

Single-location retailers typically start on the Essential plan (see the pricing page for current plans and monthly fees). Standard plans include one back office register and one POS register per outlet; add-ons are optional. For a full breakdown of POS system cost, fees, expenses and hardware, see our POS pricing FAQ below the pricing page.

If you take web or click-and-collect orders, yes. Retail Express includes order management for customer orders at your store: POS fulfilment and back-office dispatch via fulfilment & shipping. Supplier buying uses separate purchase order software. Retail Express is not a standalone enterprise OMS or 3PL.
